Kersti joined the DTCUSA team in June 2013. She knew her whole life that she wanted to be a dog trainer, but she didn’t know how to get there. She started volunteering at AniMall Pet Adoption and Outreach Center to help animals in need and to meet other animal lovers. She worked her way up to manager at AniMall and along the way, she connected with Dog Training Camp USA. At first she juggled both jobs at once, but soon decided to pursue her dream full time. In 2015, Kersti became the DTCUSA Team Manager and in 2018 became a co-owner of the company.

Kersti grew up always having dogs around and was usually the kid hiding in a corner reading books about dogs (her favorite being The Encyclopedia of Dog Breeds). Her family’s Border Collie, Freckles, had a huge impact on her closeness with dogs. Freckles was quick to pick up on gestures and cues, which sparked her interest in how people communicate with their dogs.

Kersti is located in Benson at the end of a quiet culdesac on 3 acres. She and her husband Jason have a pack of 6 dogs of all different ages. Rudy, a Border Collie/Lab mix who is 14 but thinks he’s 5; Lana, a Border Collie/German Shepherd and queen bee of the house; Forrest, a 4 year old Lab/Chow adopted from a shelter; Copper and Chance, 5 year old beagle brothers who help all the training dogs settle in, and the newest member: Penny, a silly Husky mix adopted from a local rescue. When not tending to their pack, Kersti and Jason love to garden, explore the woods, go to the beach, and go to concerts.
